Power Electronics System Engineer (Munich)

Job description:

Attached to the power electronics (inverter, charger, DC/DC, …) development division, you will:

  • Contribute to develop power electronics components for powertrain systems meeting ISO 26262 safety standard.
  • Work on a modular and scalable architecture to be applied across a range of low-voltage and high-voltage powertrains.
  • Interact with project managers and internal technical experts to provide inputs for the technology development and roadmap.
  • Interact with all stakeholders to gather requirements and derive them as a basis for HW/SW/Mechanical design (including new design as well as application engineering).
  • Define the component specification and ensure traceability of requirements.
  • Contribute to the component validation, compliance testing and certification of the integrated equipment.
  • Support V&V teams at all necessary levels (powertrain, vehicle).
  • Lead troubleshooting of product failures and track issues using defect management process.
  • Communicate project technical status internally and externally.
  • Keep up to date related KPIs.


  • Master's degree in electrical, mechanical or equivalent combination of education.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in development of automotive components.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, e-motor controls principles, torque security, inverters, HV systems, voltage regulation and thermal management.
  • Understanding of vehicle communication architecture as well as CAN protocol.
  • Experience in requirement management tools and processes, able to break down a system into logical components by function and/or feature.
  • Experience with ISO 26262 and FMEA approach, basic knowledge of quality systems like CMMI, ISO TS16949 are advantageous.
  • Learn by doing : entrepreneurial mindset driven by hands-on experimentation. High level of initiative and demonstrated problem solving experience.
  • Analytical, organizational and communication skills both verbal and written in English.
  • English minimum B2 level, German B1 level according to CEFRL ; French would be an advantage.
